Kitten found deceased in cooler on Lake Nipissing. The North Bay & District Humane Society is seeking the public’s help for information.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - North Bay, ON (February 10, 2016) – The North Bay & District Humane Society is seeking information from the public that pertains to a 4-6 month old kitten found deceased in a cooler bag on Lake Nipissing.
On February 4, 2016 the North Bay and District Humane Society’s investigation unit responded to a report of a deceased kitten in a cooler bag at the public access point of the Queen and James St. Area in North Bay. Upon arrival, the investigating officer found a Flame Point-type male kitten deceased inside a grey and orange Coleman cooler. The kitten was emaciated and covered in yellow urine or bile. The cooler had physical evidence that indicated the kitten had been alive at some point in the cooler and had attempted to escape.
At this time, North Bay Police Services is conducting forensic analysis of the cooler bag, as the joint investigation continues to investigate and collect evidence on the case.
“The North Bay & District Humane Society is asking anyone with any information on this kitten or case to please call 310-SPCA,” says Senior Inspector Lynn Michaud.
