The Ontario SPCA will get tails wagging this weekend at Newbarket
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Newmarket, ON (Sept. 9, 2016) – The Ontario SPCA will be at the Newbarket dog festival in Newmarket this weekend to register dog lovers for the upcoming Friends for Life! Walk™ fundraiser and to raise awareness about pet safety and animal welfare.
The Ontario SPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre, located just outside of Newmarket, will have a booth at the popular event to promote the Friends for Life! Walk™ presented by Pedigree®, which takes place at locations across the province on Sept. 24 & 25. Ontario SPCA officers will also be on hand and will be teaming up with the York Regional Police to educate the public about issues like animals left unattended in hot vehicles, abandonment, safety while travelling with an animal, what is considered appropriate shelter, emergency preparedness and much more.
“We’re looking forward to chatting with pet owners about these pet safety concerns,” says Alison Green, Senior Inspector, Ontario SPCA. “This is a great opportunity for people to ask us questions and hopefully walk away with information that will help them better care for the animals in their lives.”
The Newbarket dog festival takes place at Lions Park in Newmarket from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 and Sunday, Sept. 11 and features dock diving shows, a swimming pool for your canine friend, face painting, a kids’ zone and dog-related vendors for that special pooch in your life.
