For Immediate Release - PHOTO OPPORTUNITY / MEDIA ALERT - Support Animal Welfare with Cupcakes on February 25th!

Toronto Celebrates Canada’s Inaugural National Cupcake Day™ for SPCAs & Humane Societies

Firefighters, cupcakes, and animals...oh my! On Monday, February 25th, Torontonians can help animal welfare by enjoying a cupcake in celebration of the first-ever National Cupcake Day™ in support of the SPCAs and Humane Societies across Canada. The Ontario SPCA is hosting two special events that will take place at two designated Toronto locations: Toronto Fire Station #332 on Adelaide Street West and Cupcakes first location in Toronto’s Leaside Village. Cupcake sales at these two Toronto events will help shelters across Canada give a surrendered cat or dog a new forever home, rescue a neglected or abused animal and give them a second chance at a new life, and provide emergency surgery injured animals. Please join us!

“Over the past few months, we have been encouraging people to register online at www.nationalcupcakeday.ca and then to bake cupcakes and host a National Cupcake Day™ party on February 25th, with all proceeds going to support the Ontario SPCA and its communities,” explains Marc Ralsky, Director of Community and Donor Development for the Ontario SPCA. “We are thrilled to host two National Cupcake Day™ parties of our own right here in Toronto to make a life-saving difference in the lives of animals who desperately need our help.”

Over the past few months, hundreds of Ontarians have been collecting donations for National Cupcake Day™ with the goal of raising $150,000.

“National Cupcake Day has been a phenomenal success in other countries and we know it can do just as well in Canada,” said Glenn Williams, president and CEO of Petsecure, gold sponsor of National Cupcake Day. “As strong ambassadors of responsible pet ownership, we are proud to contribute to, and support, such a worthy cause.”
