Stolen Kitten - FOUND

December 16, 2013(St. Catharines, ON) Stolen Kitten - FOUND

On December 9, 2013 a small white kitten was allegedly stolen from its cage at the Lincoln County Humane Society. The 8 week old kitten was already adopted and awaiting surgery when a 52 year old, St. Catharines woman slipped the kitten into her coat and left the shelter. After placing the kitten in her car she returned to take advantage of the shelter’s food bank program for animals.

A review of the security tape at the LCHS revealed the kitten being taken and the suspect walking out of the shelter holding her arm to her body to keep the kitten still.  The suspect left the shelter after receiving the food.

On December 16 Niagara Regional Police investigated the theft complaint and located the missing kitten. The kitten was returned, in good health, this morning. The female was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and released at the scene. Her court date has been set for January 31, 2014.

The kitten named ‘Frosty’ by shelter staff is expected to go to its new, rightful home soon.

Kittens and cats continue to be available for the new $25 adoption fee. Remember the LCHS this Christmas with a donation to the animals and support our life saving adoption program.
