ST. CATHARINES, (January 20, 2014) - On January 15, 2014, the Lincoln County Humane Society received over 131 animals from a Thorold residence, following a police investigation and drug raid.
In total the LCHS removed 88 rats, 36 snakes, 4 cats, 2 turtles and 1 Savannah Monitor from the residence, as the power was disconnected from the home.
Recently the owner of the animals claimed his cats and turned the 126 remaining animals to the LCHS. Working with their adoption partner, Petland, an adoption event will be held at their store, 318 Ontario Street (behind Burger King) in St. Catharines. The event will start at 10am, Wednesday, January 22, 2014.
“All of the animals are in good health and are being well cared for. Working with our adoption partner Petland, we will endeavor to find new homes.” Said Kevin Strooband, Executive Director, Lincoln County Humane Society.
One turtle remains at the LCHS while shelter staff work with MNR officials to determine its outcome.
