Cruelty Charges Laid - St. Catharines


ST. CATHARINES, ON - February 6, 2014. The Lincoln County Humane Society has
laid Provincial charges of animal cruelty against a St. Catharines man.


In October, 2013, LCHS Officers began an investigation regarding the welfare
of a dog. Subsequent to that investigation 2 charges were laid against the 58
year old accused.


Count 1: Causing an animal to be in distress;
Count 2: Fail to provide adequate and appropriate medical attention.


The accused is scheduled to appear in St. Catharines Provincial Offences Court,
71 King Street, St. Catharines, on March 14, 2014, at 9am.


Both charges are laid under the Ontario SPCA Act and associated regulations.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty and information contained herein are allegations.


The Lincoln County Humane Society is a registered charity in the province of Ontario and relies on the generosity of
donors and supporters to continue to provide care for the thousands of animals it receives each year. The LCHS employs 19 staff and has over 100 volunteers. Among the staff are 2 Ontario SPCA Inspectors and 1 Ontario SPCA Agent who perform cruelty investigations and have police powers where animals are concerned, under the Ontario SPCA Act.
