FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Toronto, ON (April 6, 2015) – The Ontario SPCA is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the owner of a nine-month-old Husky puppy.
On February 9, 2015, a man entered into a Dundas/Dovercourt Animal Hospital with a nine-month-old Husky puppy named “Ruby”, explaining the dog needed medical attention. The owner left the dog with the staff of the clinic stating he was going to pay his parking meter, but never returned.
The owner had visited the clinic with this Husky four months prior. The dog came in with a fractured left tibia/fibula. After the dog was examined and a quote for the surgery to repair the facture was provided, the owner left with the dog and did not return. False contact information was provided to the clinic.
During a veterinary exam on February 9, it was revealed the owner never had the fracture repaired and the dog was in a great deal of pain.
After exhausting all avenues to locate the owner, The Ontario SPCA is using the images it has recently obtained of the animal owner and in an effort to locate this person we are asking the public if they have any information to please contact 310-SPCA or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
“If pet owners are unable or unwilling to care for an animal there are better options than letting the animal suffer,” says Alison Green, Regional Inspector. “Contact your local Ontario SPCA Community to discuss available services.”
