FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Ottawa, ON (March 14, 2019) – The Ontario SPCA is seeking information from the public after an extremely emaciated dog was found in Nepean.

The male dog is a brindle-coloured Labrador-type cross estimated to be between one and two years of age. On February 28, 2019, a passerby reported seeing the dog at large in a parking lot on Stonefield Private, near Prince of Wales Drive and Strandherd Drive in Nepean. The dog’s hips, spine and ribs were visibly protruding. The dog was taken to a veterinarian for examination and is now receiving the necessary care required.

The dog was not microchipped and was not wearing a collar. The Ontario SPCA is trying to determine who owned this dog and is asking anyone with any information to come forward.

“If you have any information about this dog, we urge you to report that information so we can follow up accordingly,” says Bonnie Bishop, Senior Inspector, Ontario SPCA. “We want to determine who owned this dog and the circumstances surrounding the condition in which he was found.”

To report information about this dog, or to report animal welfare concerns, call the Ontario SPCA’s province-wide animal cruelty hotline at 310-SPCA (7722).
