Social Interaction

The following has been adapted from material on the ASPCApro website.

Providing opportunities for interaction with people and other cats gives cats the opportunity to become better socialized and increases their chances of being adopted. Social interaction can be incorporated during feeding time, play sessions, cleaning and other routinely performed tasks.

Cats organize their daily activity patterns around human caretaker activity. Try to have tasks and activities performed by the same person at the same time every day. This approach offers the cat regular routine and consistency. It also helps the caretaker notice early signs of behavioural and physical changes in the cat.
