Training & Behaviour Modification
Using a Behaviour Log
Monitoring progress is a vital part of any individual behaviour modification program.
Effective use of a behaviour log to monitor each animal’s progress includes:
- Keep records for every session, including date and time of the session and all relevant details. This information provides an accurate picture of what occurred during the sessions
- Remain objective when recording observed behaviours. This allows your evaluations to be more effective and accurate when determining if the program is working
- Review the previous day’s logs before beginning each session
- A detailed behaviour log allows you to determine which reinforcements (food, toys, etc.) are successful with the animal, the time of day that is more productive, etc.
See the Sample Behaviour Log.
