Respiratory Protection

Respiratory protection is designed to protect the respiratory tract from zoonotic infectious diseases transmitted through the air. Special N95 masks are required for people with beards. Surgical masks are not a replacement for N95 masks.

To Put on a N95 Mask:
  • Place over nose, mouth and chin
  • Fit flexible nose piece over nose bridge
  • Secure on head with elastic
  • Adjust to fit
  • Perform a fit check
    • Inhale – respirator should collapse
    • Exhale – check for leakage around face

To Remove a Particulate Respirator:
  • Lift the bottom elastic over your head first
  • Then lift off the top elastic
  • Discard
