Vehicles must be fully cleaned once per week or immediately after a large removal or transport of a large group of animals.


Proper Protective Equipment (PPE):

Disposable latex or nitrile gloves, yellow isolation gown, rubber boots (spray with Prevail™ to disinfect) or disposable footwear (impermeable shoe covers/agri-boots).

Supplies:
  • Prevail™ foamer attachment and hose/ or portable foamer
  • Extra garbage and laundry bags
  • Prevail spray bottle
  • Paper towels/cloths for wiping
  • Broom/dust pan
  • Scrub brush
  • Squeegee
  • Clean towels (to dry)
Box of Vehicle:
  1. Don PPE
  2. Remove all objects from the vehicle bed (clothing, boots, kennels/crates, equipment), and wash, disinfect, and dry them prior to replacing them back in the clean vehicle.
  3. Place dirtied blankets and any washable toys into clear plastic laundry bag or discard into garbage (discard heavily soiled/contaminated items in the garbage).
  4. Remove any feces, and spilled food/treats from vehicle box with broom and dustpan.
  5. Using detergent and water mixture, scrub the box thoroughly with a scrub brush from top to bottom (ceiling, sides, floors, and windows) and from front to back. Make sure to get in to all the corners.
  6. Rinse thoroughly with water from the hose.
  7. Use squeegee to remove excess water if necessary.
  8. Coat all surfaces of the vehicle box with Prevail
    *Must ensure 5 minute wet contact time for Prevail
  9. Towel dry or let air dry.
    *Drying is a very important step for the prevention of disease and infection. You must make sure all areas are DRY before you replace all the cleaned equipment/crates/supplies and before an animal occupies that space.
Cab of Vehicle:

The cab of the truck, including floor-boards, pedals, steering wheel, gear shift handle, door handles, etc. must all be cleaned and disinfected.

  1. Don PPE
  2. Remove all objects (floor mats, equipment) and vacuum.
  3. Scrub each floor mat with detergent and water mixture, then rinse with water
  4. Spray floor mats with Prevail foamer/or spray bottle, and ensure a 5 minute wet contact time.
  5. Towel dry or let air dry.
  6. Wipe down all surfaces (steering wheel, emergency brake, door handles, etc.) with Prevail and paper towel or wash cloth.
  7. Mist seats with Prevail spray bottle, let air dry.

Cages and Crates

Proper PPE:

  • Paper towels/cloths for wiping
  • Scrub brush
  • Clean towels (to dry)
  1. Remove dirty cages/carriers from vehicle
  2. Remove feces/debris with paper towel
  3. Scrub all surfaces with soap and water
  4. Rinse with water
  5. Coat all surfaces with Prevail using foamer or spray bottle
  6. Ensure a 5 minute wet contact time.
  7. Towel dry or let air dry

Catch Poles, Nets and Other Equipment:

These items must be wiped down with soap and water, then sprayed with Prevail™ after each use. Ensure catch poles are lubricated after washing to prevent rusting.
