Introducing the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society CARES Fund
The Ontario SPCA Community Access to Resources, Education, and Support (CARES) Fund is a new grant program designed to support SPCAs and Humane Societies across Ontario. This initiative provides funding for projects that enhance animal welfare, such as spay/neuter programs, veterinary care, and shelter improvements.
Who Can Apply?
The CARES Fund is open to SPCAs and Humane Societies, with a strong preference for organizations serving smaller or underserved communities.
Funding Details
- Total Annual Funding: $150,000 across approved projects
- Project Limit: One project per organization at a time
- Duration: Projects may last up to three years
What We’re Looking For
Successful projects must align with the Ontario SPCA’s mission and demonstrate:
- Clear Objectives & Measurable Impact – Well-defined goals, a detailed plan, and measurable outcomes
- Innovation – Creative and scalable solutions to animal welfare challenges
- Sustainability – A plan for long-term success beyond the grant period
- Community Engagement – A focus on underserved communities and partnerships

- April 2025: Application review
- June 2025: Funding recipients announced
