Meet Oakley 🐾🩵

Oakley is a young puppy with so much potential, and he is looking for a special person who is willing to give him the time, patience, and guidance he needs to thrive.

Like many young dogs who are still learning about the world, Oakley can find strangers, new environments, and unfamiliar experiences overwhelming. He may react when he is unsure or uncomfortable, and he will need an adopter who understands that these behaviours are a reflection of his feelings-not a reason to give up on him.

Oakley’s ideal home will be with someone who is familiar with his breed and understands the importance of structure, consistency, and appropriate boundaries. He needs a dedicated handler who has the time to help him build confidence and learn that new people and new experiences can be positive and safe.

We are looking for someone who is prepared to take things at Oakley’s pace, celebrate his small victories, and give him the consistency he needs to succeed. His adopter should be committed to continuing his training and helping him develop the skills he will need to navigate the world confidently.

We highly recommend working with a professional, positive-reinforcement trainer who has experience with reactivity. The right trainer can help Oakley and his adopter understand his triggers, teach him appropriate coping skills, and gradually create positive associations with strangers, new environments, and unfamiliar situations.

Oakley does not need someone who expects him to be perfect. He needs someone who is willing to teach him. Someone patient enough to recognize when he needs space, committed enough to keep working with him, and compassionate enough to see the wonderful young dog underneath his uncertainty.
