Welcoming Humane Society of Durham Region into the Ontario SPCA Family

by | Interesting |

The Humane Society of Durham Region and the Ontario SPCA have been working collaboratively for years to help animals in need. In August 2022, the two organizations announced that the Humane Society of Durham Region (HSDR) would be formally joining the Ontario SPCA to combine the organizations.

A pillar of support for animals in the Durham Region

For over 30 years, HSDR has been a pillar of support for animals in the Region of Durham. As community needs grow,  HSDR remains dedicated to meeting them. Joining the Ontario SPCA family will boost their ability to care for vulnerable animals and expand crucial programs and community services to meet rising regional needs.

Retaining roots amidst transition

HSDR will maintain its dedicated staff and volunteers, retaining its name and operating from its current Wentworth Street location in Whitby. Now a part of the Ontario SPCA, it gains access to provincial resources and administrative support.

While donations are most welcomed to provide care to all animals of the Ontario SPCA and the Humane Society of Durham Region, those wishing to allocate their contributions specifically to the Durham Region can still do so.

Many ways to support HSDR

There are several ways you can support the animals cared for by the Humane Society of Durham Region. One-time, monthly, memorial, tribute, and wish list donations can be made online by visiting hsdr.org/donations. Donations to the Humane Society of Durham Region can also be made on the Ontario SPCA website donation page.

Another way of donating is through securities, which is one of the most advantageous ways to support animals in need. For more information about the Humane Society of Durham Region, visit hsdr.org
