Great experience bringing home our newest family member

“The professional staff guided us through the steps to adopting our newest family member. They were very transparent with his needs and areas to be worked on so we had the full picture of the dog we were bringing into our home. Overall, an excellent experience. Now, six months later, everyone is happy and life is great at our home.”

Excellent service and fantastic facilities

“It's quite the process to adopt a pet these days, but dealing with the Ontario SPCA was a complete pleasure. All of the women I dealt with during the process were extremely pleasant, knowledgeable, patient, informative and clearly caring. Plus, the facilities were fantastic.”

How can I become a foster parent?

As a foster volunteer with the Ontario SPCA, you’ll help young, sick, injured, or under-socialized animals who aren’t yet ready for adoption. With your love and care, you can help them heal, grow, and prepare for life in a forever home.

What is the process for rehoming an animal?

We are here to support individuals and families who need to rehome their companion animals.

How does the adoption process work?

Adopters are welcome to visit the animal centre seven days a week between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. We encourage visitors to arrive 30-45 minutes before closing time to ensure that we can send you home with a new furry friend on the same day if you meet the perfect match.

Do you accept strays?

If you find a stray animal, please first contact the municipality’s animal control services for assistance. If there are no animal control services in place in the area where the animal was found, please reach out to our animal centre. When space allows, we accept stray animals from areas without municipal coverage. If we are at capacity, we will do our best to connect you with alternative resources.

How can I report animal cruelty?

The Ontario SPCA does not have the legal authority to investigate concerns for the welfare of an animal. If you see an animal in distress, please contact the Government of Ontario’s Provincial Animal Welfare Services team at 1-833-9ANIMAL (1-833-926-4625) or your local police services. If the animal’s life is in danger, call 911 immediately as this is an emergency.
