The Ontario SPCA depends on the warmth, generosity and skills of our volunteers. People like you provide comfort to the many animals in need. If you love animals, believe in animal welfare philosophies, and want to help us in our lifesaving efforts- we promise you a rewarding and satisfying volunteer opportunity. You can volunteer daily, weekly, or make a one-time commitment.
Applicants to our volunteer program are accepted based on suitability, interest, skills and our available positions. Due to the high volume of requests we cannot guarantee a placement for all qualified applicants. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
Volunteers must be over the age of 14 to volunteer for any of our Ontario SPCA Animal Centres.
Please note: If the responsibilities of a volunteer position involves authority over or the trust of persons who are vulnerable members of society (such as children, seniors, or persons with special needs), a vulnerable sector screening police records check will be required before the commencement of the volunteer work.

The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Ontario SPCA) is a registered charity with a Provincial Office in Stouffville and supports over 50 communities throughout Ontario. The following opportunity is available at the Provincial Office.
Development Volunteer Assistant
Volunteer position: Approximately 1 day per week for a minimum of 3 hours
As a Development Volunteer Assistant, your role will provide vital administrative support in our busy Development department; assisting with office support and event related tasks including filing, data entry, telephone duties, organization of supplies, shredding, photocopying, document collation, mail, and other administrative duties as assigned.
• Excellent customer service skills, along with a positive attitude.
• Previous experience with basic administrative duties such as stuffing envelopes, photocopying, computer work.
• Well organized with strong listening skills.
• Comfortable working independently with an aptitude for details.
• Eagerness to work with people.
• Pleasant phone manner when calling our donors and supporters.
• Comfortable working in an open environment with occasional office pet visitors.
• Able to follow instructions.
• Able to ensure confidentiality.
• Able to act professional at all times
• Must have a genuine compassion for animals and animal welfare philosophies.
