Stouffville (July 16, 2021) – The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society is pleased to announce that Doug Brooks has been appointed CEO, effective September 13, 2021.

Doug is currently the Executive Director of Strategic Growth Partners and has a wealth of experience in leading successful business transformation through collaboration, building high performing teams and developing key relationships within complex, multi-stakeholder environments.

“We are thrilled to be welcoming Doug to the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society, and we are fully confident that his collaborative and multi-disciplined leadership approach coupled with his decades of senior executive experience will ensure that we will continue our efforts to provide province-wide leadership on all matters related to the prevention of cruelty to animals and the advancement of animal welfare here in Ontario,” said Catherine MacNeill, Chair of the Board of Directors, Ontario SPCA and Humane Society.

“As someone who is an animal lover, I couldn’t be more delighted to take on this role during an exciting period of change and growth,” said Brooks. “Mahatma Gandhi once said that ‘the greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated’. The passion and leadership that the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society has brought to animal advocacy not only here in Ontario but at a national level was one of the key factors that drove me to accept this role. I look forward to working with the team and our partners to further champion the important work the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society continues to undertake.”
