Every year, thousands of animals find homes through Ontario SPCA animal centres across the province. With that many animals coming through our doors, there are bound to be some common names. So which names did we hear most in 2018?
Here are the 10 most commonly appearing names for dogs in cats, listed in no particular order:
Dogs
-
Bear
- Bella
- Duke
- Lexi
- Marley
- Max
- Milo
- Teddy
- Rosie
- Charlie
Cats
-
Baby

- Buddy
- Charlie
- Daisy
- Fluffy
- Leo
- Lily
- Luna
- Willow
When an animal comes into our care, we may already know his or her name, particularly if the animal was surrendered by an owner who could no longer care for them. Sometimes our staff members have to give them a name.
Do you have any great animal names? We’d love to hear your ideas to help us when selecting names for animals in 2019.
