Foster’s story: From a stray, to a therapy dog
by Ontario SPCA and Humane Society | Happy Tails | September 1, 2020
We have someone really special we’d like you to meet! Lee Thompson has been a volunteer with the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society for years and has fostered hundreds of cats and kittens. Just over 7 years ago, Lee felt like it was time to welcome a dog to the family. That’s where Foster comes in…
Foster was found as a stray and brought to the Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Animal Centre. We couldn’t understand why no one claimed this joyful pup, but Lee knew she could provide him with a loving home. Not only has Foster been a great addition to Lee’s household and his foster-siblings, but he’s also a therapy dog! When Foster visited soldiers and their families with mental or physical injuries, he knew which ones needed his attention most.
“He is perfect for us. My husband and I always say he’s smarter than we are. No matter what you need, he’s there for you.”
And just like you might have guessed, Foster’s name was given to him in honour of all the animals Lee has fostered over the years. We are so happy that Foster is there for Lee and her family and that we could be a part of it. Help us bring even more families together by becoming a monthly donor today!
