Letter to the editor – Correction to article requested
The article by Virginia Clinton titled “Quinte Humane Society urgently seeks support,” which appeared in the Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021 edition of the Toronto Star, contains factually inaccurate information and false statements. We respectfully request that a correction be made immediately.
The article states that the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society “has declared the Quinte Humane Society the worst shelter in Ontario as the building continues to decay.” The Ontario SPCA never made that statement and has no oversight over any other organization, including the Quinte Humane Society.
We are disappointed that Ms. Clinton did not reach out to us for clarification, and that the Toronto Star would issue inaccurate information.
If an SPCA, humane society, rescue group or member of the public is facing challenges caring for their animals, the Ontario SPCA is always available to discuss how we may be able to support them.
Sincerely,
Daryl Vaillancourt

I stand behind SPCA with my monthly gift
I stand behind SPCA with my monthly gift. I am so happy there are folks like you to care for those who can’t help themselves. My family and I have had animals all our lives and know what a comfort they are. Thank you SPCA.
