Richard Schroder knows how hard it can be on the streets. He was once a social worker, helping people experiencing homelessness connect with the resources they needed.
Maybe that’s why he worked so hard to get his cat, Ghosty, off the street. Richard earned the stray cat’s trust after Ghosty started coming to his backdoor, seeking refuge from the cold chill of November. Eventually, he was able to bring Ghosty indoors and give the hungry, cold and lonely cat the love and medical care he so desperately needed.
Now Ghosty lives in comfort with two other cats, Bella and Panther. Ghosty’s personality has gone from angry and terrified to loyal, loving, and happy. He follows Richard wherever he goes!
When Richard thought about what he wanted to do with his estate, he realized he wanted to make sure his legacy would help more animals find their forever families. There’s no greater gift than the unconditional love of an animal companion. And that’s a gift you can pass to another animal lover through a gift in your will to the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society.
