Start creating a history immediately upon arrival.

  • If no history is available, you can document information from the moment the animal arrives, to start creating a history. In cases where an Agent or ACO (Animal Control Officer) brings an animal in, intake staff should collect and document as much information as possible using the Field Officer Health Checklist
  • Must be objective, and not influenced by breed or previous experiences.
  • Note overall behaviour: aggressive, fearful, submissive, friendly, shy.
  • Document obedience, commands.
  • Record sociability (with people and other animals)
