Meet the CEO: Doug Brooks

This week, Doug Brooks started his role as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society. Today, we’re sharing a video so you have a chance to get to know him better!

“The more staff I meet, donors I talk to, and adoptable animals I visit with, the more comfortable I feel,” says Brooks. “Working here feels like home.”

Growing up, Brooks says there wasn’t an animal his mom wouldn’t accept into her home. Whether it was an orphaned animal, or someone’s once-loved companion left by the side of the road — he says his house became a safe haven for animals in his community who needed a bit of extra love to get back on their feet.

“That’s one reason this role means so much to me. My mother’s legacy of creating a loving refuge for animals in need will carry through my work as our CEO,” says Brooks.
