Remembering furry friends on World Pet Memorial Day
by Ontario SPCA and Humane Society | Sweat for Pets | June 13, 2023
World Pet Memorial Day is an opportunity to remember the unconditional love of animals no longer with us.
Feeling these losses deeply is completely normal and, unfortunately, it’s an experience that animal lovers across the world have felt. However, loss does not mean our furry friends are forgotten. A few years ago, we shared Andy’s story on our blog. This year, Andy’s family is once again participating in our Sweat for Pets event, supporting the Ontario SPCA York Region Animal Centre. Here’s a bit of their story:
Remembering Andy
Andy Collet was a 16-year-old Sheltie. He was loved to the moon and back by his parents, Melody and Fred Collet. Andy passed away in September 2018 after living life to the fullest.
“This week we are dedicating our challenge to Andy’s love of life and the enthusiasm and loyalty he showed his family,” Melody says. “Fred and I are so very appreciative to have the opportunity to support the Ontario SPCA Sweat for Pets Fundraiser and to be able to honour such a very special dog.”
Together, let’s celebrate the unforgettable!
In memory of beloved furry friends
Our pets are forever in our hearts and their companionship is never forgotten, but deeply missed. Whether you still have your beloved pet, or you’re grieving a loss, join us in supporting animals in need this summer through our Sweat for Pets fundraiser.
Together, we can not only remember, but also celebrate the undying bond that will forever be rooted in our hearts.
