Sudbury area philanthropists sponsor adoptions at the Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Animal Centre to help animals find homes

Sudbury, ON (July 14, 2020) – To encourage adoptions and help animals at the Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Animal Centre find homes, Northern Legacy Horse Farm has stepped up to cover all adoption fees for animals at the centre during the month of July.

The generous gift comes on the heels of the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society’s announcement that it would be introducing limited contact adoptions at its animal centres across the province.  The new process was put in place after careful consideration and research to determine the safest way to resume adoptions during COVID-19.

“Northern Legacy Horse Farm is a firm believer that animals and people are excellent partners in helping heal each other in times of need,” says Katriina Ruotsalo and Craig Fielding, owners of Whitefish-based Northern Legacy Horse Farm. “By covering adoption fees for the month of July, we hope to reduce the financial burden on our local animal centre and find loving homes for animals. We are in this together and, for many people, the companionship of an animal is comforting during these uncertain times.”

Potential adopters can view adoptable animals at ontariospca.ca/sudbury. After filling out the Ontario SPCA’s Meet Your Match ® survey online to help match them with compatible animals, potential adopters can make an appointment at the Sudbury & District Animal Centre to learn more about the animal they are interested in adopting, arrange an e-meet and greet online and complete adoption paperwork digitally. Ontario SPCA team members will then set an appointment for the adopter to pick up their new friend.

“We are very grateful for Northern Legacy Horse Farm’s kindness and generosity,” says Jennifer Hughes, Manager, Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Animal Centre. “They are always there for animals in our community and we look forward to working with them to help find homes for the animals in our centre.”
