Two best friends with nowhere to go: Abby and Diesel
by Ontario SPCA and Humane Society | Happy Tails | December 14, 2021
Abby and Diesel waited patiently, peering through the bars of their enclosure, hoping that today would be the day they would be adopted. The sound of dogs barking echoed off the walls, sometimes deafening, sometimes eerily quiet. Would someone take a chance on these two best friends with nowhere else to go, before it was too late?
Abby and Diesel had unexpectedly found themselves living in an overcrowded shelter in the United States. These two were inseparable, and so they had a hard time finding a forever family who was willing to bring home two senior dogs.
Bonded pairs like Abby and Diesel need to be adopted together for their well-being. Because the shelter they were in was over capacity and bonded pairs are often seen as “difficult to adopt,” their prospects were grim. Time was running out for Abby and Diesel. Their lives were at stake.
A second chance for Abby and Diesel
This sweet senior duo was transferred to our care earlier this year as part of our work helping animals find new homes north of the border. Abby and Diesel are now together for the holidays – and forever.
This life-saving work would not be possible without you. Will you give a special year-end gift of today to make more rescue missions possible and bring families together?
Abby and Diesel are now living their best lives in Bracebridge with their new mom, Virginia. Instead of living in a cramped shelter, they’re enjoying cottage country, with fresh air, bright sunlight and plenty of room to run around and play with each other.
Every animal deserves to live their best life with a special person or family who loves them. While animals like Abby and Diesel have everything they need, others are not so fortunate.
Please give today to bring even more animals home for the holidays, where they’ll be given the love and care they so deeply deserve.
