Behind the Paw Summit – Welcome!
Hello Animal Lovers!!
It was an early start this morning as I arrived at Pearson Airport around 7:10am. I was the first Canadian “Behind the Paw” attendee to show up at the United Airlines meeting area. I was soon joined by Ashley and Joyce representing Iams at the summit and two fellow bloggers, Deborah and Natashya. Great group of woman; we all instantly hit it off.
Our travels to Dayton, OH went smoothly; a foreshadow of the days to come, I hope.
Upon arrival at our hotel, we settled in to our rooms where I was pleasantly surprised to find a gift bag full of treats, info about the summit, and a hard hat for our tours.
We had a few hours until our first welcome event so our Canadian team of bloggers had some time to chat and share stories of our lives, families and friends. One thing I really loved was the fact each and every one of us brought up how animals were in our lives. Animals are amazing, they are what unite us. The love for animals goes beyond geography, careers, or age. We sat there for well over an hour sharing photos and telling stories about the pets that have come and gone from our lives and how much we all love them. I, of course, gushed over my adopted bulldog, Roxy. How could I not… just look at that face!
Our welcome event started around 5:30pm where we all gathered to attend a cooking school class.
Dressed in our Behind the Paw aprons each team was given a course to make and when finished we’d all enjoy the complete meal together! My fellow Canadians and I were on “Team Salad”!
After a lovely meal and some great conversations with my fellow bloggers, we headed back to the hotel to rest up for the official start of the Beyond the Paw Summit.
Tomorrow we have a tour of the P & G Pet Health & Nutrition Centre followed by a tour of the Leipsic Manufacturing Plant. I’m really curious on what we will be presented with during these tours.
For all those who are reading, on Wednesday we (and I say “we” because I invite you to share your thoughts with me) have been invited to a round table discussion with the P&G Pet Care team. If you have any questions you would like me to ask on your behalf, please tweet them to me @OntarioSPCA.
Yours for the animals,
Wish to thank everyone involved
